  1. I'm only 40 minutes from there. If this is even partially carveable I would seriously consider a season pass. Edit- it opens Sept 2nd. I may seriously have to check it out with my old Donek. It may be worth $18 to see what the story is. https://powderridgepark.com/365-synthetic-snow-park/
  2. I know I'm not even close to the oldest on here but I'm not a kid either. With that in mind I'm prepping earlier for the season in the Northeast to be sure I'm ready. Last year I only got out 4 days in 1 week and it was a disappointing season for me (got hit twice!). So to better prepared I'm starting the recommended routine in the Bodyweight fitness subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/wiki/kb/recommended_routine and leg blasters https://www.backcountry.com/explore/train-eccentric-leg-strength-for-alpine-skiing?branch_used=true on top of my normal cardio stuff. So what are you doing/planning on doing to prepare for the upcoming season?
  3. The barely accepable form of snowboarding sounds like the beginning of a new t-shirt.
  4. Well I've been hit twice in the last week so I'm now seriously considering some protection. I think I'll start with the spine since that and my ribs have taken the brunt of the impacts (no injuries).
  5. Had an okay day, there was a decent mix of granular and fresh machine made on top of ice. The bonus was meeting Whitehorse and exchanging info to meet up in the future.
  6. Some of the gear looks familiar. I'd try this out, it looks interesting.
  7. Sorry double post.
  8. I'm running a trip on Sat 1/14, I won't be able to do much more than chat but I'll be there most of the day.
  9. That sucks I hope you're ok and bounce back quickly.
  10. So I started on Leg Blasters today, in a word ouch! http://www.backcountry.com/explore/train-eccentric-leg-strength-for-alpine-skiing?branch_used=true I got through 2 and a half of the mini blasters after my run on the elliptical and it was going well until I got to the jump lunges. My knees didn't like them at all. I'll keep progressing these as best I can.
  11. I have 2 boards but no boots, all my boards have step in bindings. 1 a Rossi VAS 152 2 a Donek Freecarve 172 I typically ride CT at Mohawk but make trips to Sundown, Southington, and Power Ridge.
  12. Where do you generally ride? We like to suck in new addicts so chances are we may be able to meet up with loaner gear.
  13. It's about an hour for me too. Let's hope for an early season.
  14. I go as much as possible on weekdays. With the boat schedule it's pretty easy. Mohawk is a bit smaller and narrower than the Beast but it's close to home.
  15. Mostly Mohawk but if my schedule allows I'll make a Beast trip.
